In two weeks, Olek and Selek, who have teamed up under the label fashionkills, will open their exhibition New York at Pretty Portal.

Fashionkills is the label of the two graffiti and street artists OLEK and SELEK. Both artists have been active as graphic designers, photographers and graffiti artists since the early 90s. Since 2002, Olek and Selek have been working together under the label fashionkills.de.

Fashionkills represents rough street style as a stylistic element to reflect a feeling of real life. Olek on "fashion kills personality": Fashion, with its multitude of possible trends one can chase, kills personality. Copying trends hinders the development of personality and one's own style. If one allows oneself to be too strongly influenced by superficialities and outward appearances, no self-confidence and no personality can develop. With the exhibition series: run the line, invisible spray and hidden places, fashionkills was present in galleries in Cologne, Düren, Aachen, Siegen and Bonn. In 2005 and 2006, they also exhibited at Urban Artclash. For the exhibition at Pretty Portal, the two chose the theme New York and put together a mix of graphics, illustrations and photographs.

At the vernissage on January 18th, Hulk Hodn will provide musical accompaniment. Here's a little preview.
