While Urban Art and Street Art are often associated with striking, large-format works that make an impact even when viewed in passing, it's easy to overlook that murals have their origins in drawing and illustration. For this reason, the exhibition "Drawings & Illustrations" focuses exclusively on small-format works on paper created with ink, charcoal, pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, and acrylic.
Among the many participating artists are local luminaries such as Oliver Räke aka Magic, an urban artist from the very beginning and one of the founders of the Düsseldorf graffiti scene; Joe Hennig, who shapes the cityscape with his yellow monkeys; and Max Fiedler aka Mexer, whose illustrations for Captain Flingern are surely still fondly remembered by many. Also featured is Johannes Mundinger, who was awarded last year in the competition accompanying the "Grand Geste" exhibition at the Museum Kunstpalast. Other participating artists include Arno Beck, BASE 23, dust, Eliot, Kornel, Martin Wühler, Pascal Schwendener, REMED, Sebastian Wegerhoff, and Tom Brane.
