The exhibition title seems presumptuous, but the PLEASURE GÄNG is more interested in telling a good story than rewriting history. It's about the phenomenon of graffiti, which has undoubtedly made history and left its indelible mark.

Graffiti is often fanatically practiced and romantically glorified by its active participants, barely appreciated by the public, and hated and persecuted by its opponents. The PLEASURE GÄNG aims to bring these opposing perspectives closer together and, in doing so, dissect the clichés and prejudices that exist on all sides and sustainably shape the image of graffiti.

The partly autobiographical, mostly self-ironic works of the four young autodidacts are closely interwoven by a fictional yet realistic prose. They thus possess various semantic contexts, while images and narration can also exist independently of each other.

A warning: This is a story about graffiti, but it does not show traditional graffiti. Rather, the PLEASURE GÄNG uses a variety of techniques, materials, and motifs to report on the fascination and absurdity of a subculture that is an indispensable part of any cityscape, but which is even euphorically celebrated as the greatest art movement in history.

The PLEASURE GÄNG consists of four hyperactive autodidacts from Düsseldorf with breathtaking output. Graphics and -ffiti, installations and illustrations, performances and -sonality, respect and -lessness, textile design and humor are all part of their repertoire.
