On September 27th, at 7 PM, we will open the exhibition "Coming Full Circle" by the Chilean artist Pau Quintanajornet. The artist will be present at the vernissage.
Pau doesn't just paint pictures; Pau designs worlds and invites you on a journey into the beauty of Latin American influences and into the spheres of an artist who playfully brings her inner self to the outside with paper, wood, and ink. The boundaries between cultures blur; from the tension between her Chilean roots and her German home emerges a unique symbolism of strong women who shoot from the ground into the sky like plants. Deeply rooted in values and traditions, yet ready to ascend to unknown heights. Birds are also a large part of Pau's world: symbols of wisdom and calm, they simultaneously spread their wings and are free souls who master heights and depths. She has painted at numerous festivals, such as the 40º Urban Art Festival in Düsseldorf, the City Leaks Festival in Cologne in 2011, and Latidoamericano in Lima in 2013 and Beantatuz in Tolosa in 2013. Walls up to 15 meters long and 10 meters high, like in Lima, adorn her pictures. Pau exclusively designs legal spaces in public areas; the focus is not on her name, but on the art. "Designing walls is something that shapes the environment, co-creating it: a gift to the public." Until April of this year, Pau was again traveling in South America, soaking in the wild landscapes of Patagonia and the rough charm of Bolivia and Peru, and emancipating herself artistically. In Coming Full Circle, Pau documents this chapter of her journey: a young artist takes stock – the end of a story, the beginning of something new. "I also needed this new space to allow new things within me, to find a fresh approach to my art. From every end springs a new beginning, and many open threads intertwine, completing a circle."Rebekkassine's world consists of words, more words, and even more words. Whether haiku, sonnet, rhymed or free verse – if something occupies the German-Frenchwoman, she finds words for it (and gladly also in scribbled illustrations, which in this case she was happy to leave to the artist). With Coming Full Circle, Pau and Rebekkassine now walk a part of the path together and bring this cycle to a close, without for a moment doubting that the world still holds many adventures for them.
