"Urban art is not a new phenomenon. People have expressed their presence, their humor, their fears, and their anger in the streets ever since there have been streets where they could be seen. It is the most democratic form of art. It is a medium accessible to anyone who feels the need to use it. With its recognition and the graffiti culture in the 20th century, the scene shifted from the streets to modern galleries. Guy Denning's works combine a traditional painting style with a contemporary, punk-inspired, collaged, and stenciled text. His imagery and aesthetics, mixed with the political narrative that runs through his work, have earned Denning a loyal audience among art collectors and urban art enthusiasts.Guy Denning was born in North Somerset in 1965. Already in his childhood, he was obsessed with fine art and painted his first oil paintings at the age of eleven, inspired by old, dusty paintings given to him by a relative. In the 1980s, his applications for fine art studies were rejected, which did not deter him from his passion. He studied art history, continued his painting, and learned painting techniques from various older artists from western England. In 1992, he exhibited throughout the UK. In 2007, exhibitions followed in the USA, Germany, Italy, and France. His works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions and are part of various public collections, including the Faculty of Politics at Bristol University, the Faculty of Political Science at Galway University, and the MAGI'900 Museum of Contemporary Art, Bologna.
