After the short intermezzo of "2 Sick Bastards" from London in January, Pretty Portal will be showing three artists from our mountainous neighboring country Austria in February. The three Viennese street artists Nychos, joy-maedi-evil-art, and El Lasso transform the Pretty Portal into a colorful, bizarre café house, entirely in the taste of Pension Grillparzer. The exhibition, consistently titled "Grotesque Theatre Café," shows illustrative compositions full of fantastic beings and creatures in a quirky, sometimes abysmal world. Visitors can expect works in acrylic, spray paint, and ink on paper, wood, and canvas.

Nychos: The self-proclaimed cartoon and comic fan is characterized by extreme speed in drawing and a graphic style, and with his insatiable devotion to creative work, he is one of Austria's most famous graffiti artists.

El Lasso: In El Lasso's art, his positive aura shines through: loving figures, monsters, and character heads, which he calls "G'sichterl und Maxerl" (little faces and little fellows), fill his worlds. joy-maedi-evil-art: joy-maedi-evil-art loves kitschy, grotesque, and funny things. This is exactly how her characters look, sometimes appearing quite cute and at other times giving the impression they want to scratch each other's eyes out; entirely depending on the situation and chosen color.
